Dalton High School’s varsity girls basketball team is heading into the end of the season with its eye on an accomplishment never before achieved by the Lady Dawgs: the Wayne County Athletic League championship. Although Dalton has experienced success in past seasons, it has never claimed the WCAL crown. There are eight teams in the WCAL and those teams play each other twice during the season for 14 total matchups. The team which finishes with the best record against other league teams wins the championship. With wins over Chippewa and Norwayne, the Lady Dawgs improved their WCAL record to 11-0. They have remaining league games against Smithville, Waynedale and Rittman. Dalton’s overall record is now 17-1.
