The Porcupines and Supreme faced off Feb. 1 at the YMCA of Wayne County. Many Dalton High School students are on the two teams and they join youth from throughout Wayne County who are playing in the league. For more information, visit www.ymcawayne.org.

WOOSTER The basketball court at the YMCA of Wayne County has been heating up this winter with some friendly competition and serious fun.
Local high school students and others from throughout Wayne County form their own teams, get sponsors and design their own shirts to compete in YBall league. The regular season has wound down for the league open to all high schoolers not playing for a school team. Students can sign up at the end of the year for the season that typically runs January through February.
Two teams comprised mainly of Dalton-area students competed against each other Feb. 1. Supreme won against the Porcupines but with these teams the score isn’t everything that matters. They have fun getting together every Saturday with friends and improving their skills.
“It’s a lot of fun playing YBall with the boys every Saturday,” said Dalton junior Evan Hodkinson who is on the Supreme team. “We all have a great time and it brings us together. Our priorities are faith, family, school, Yball, and then everything else, so this is something special to us.”
