Comets boys varsity basketball finish out regular season

Central Christian School’s boys varsity basketball team earned a win over Temple Christian on Senior Night. The Comets fell to East Canton in the final game of the regular season. CCS finished the season with an overall record of 10-11 and a 5-5 MBC record.

The Comets jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first quarter of their Feb. 16 home game against Temple Christian and it helped propel them to a 46-38 win. Tyler Bonner had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, in addition to two assists, three steals and one block. Clay Rohrer finished with 12 points, two rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block. Max Irwin added nine points, grabbed three rebounds and picked two steals. Andrew Miller totaled four points, four rebounds and one assist. Kaden Schrock had three points, one rebound, five assists and three steals. Caden Granger ended with three points, one rebound, three assists, one steal and one block. Dakota Kerby scored two points, grabbed one board and collected one steal.

The Comets finished out the regular season on the road against East Canton Feb. 18. Central lost the close game 46-43. The Hornets built up an early lead that was too much for the Comets to overcome. Rohrer was the leader for CCS with 14 points, two rebounds and one assist. Bonner added eight points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Schrock collected seven points, one board, three assists and three steals. Miller scored six points, pulled seven rebounds, dished one assist and swiped three steals. Granger also had six points, along with six rebounds, one assist and three steals. Kerby scored two points and passed one assist.

No. 11 seed Central will play No. 13 seed Hillsdale in the Division IV Northeast 3 sectional semifinal Feb. 23.
