Lady Dawgs ready to step up their game

As the start of the 2022 high school basketball season is fast approaching, Dalton’s girls varsity team is ready for its efforts in the offseason to pay off.

“We had a great offseason and picked up where we left off,” said head coach Katie Miller. “We have, and will continue, to get better.”

The Lady Dawgs have their sights set on winning the WCAL title, along with success in districts, regionals and finally the state tournament.

They also have the short-term goal to continue improving every day. This is something that started last season and the team looks to keep going into this year.

“We grew a lot throughout the season last year and we expect that to continue this season,” Miller said.

The progress that started last season has helped shape the talent of this year’s seniors, who have already put in years of experience on the court.

“Caroline Chubbuck, Marley Clark, Kylee Johnson, Ella Lunsford, Maddy West and Sarah Witmer have been playing basketball together since youth,” Miller said. “They have put many hours into our program. We are excited for them to lead our program this season. They are a great group of seniors.”
