William S. “Bill” Ramsdell, 94

Marshallville – William S. “Bill” Ramsdell, age 94, of Marshallville, formerly of Orrville, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Bill was born November 25, 1931, in Perrysburg, Ohio, to the late Lyman Stanley and Faye Marie (Long) Ramsdell. He served as a Private in both the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps during the era leading into the Korean War.
On April 13, 1962, he married Janet Sue Randolph in Temperance, Michigan. She survives.
Bill worked as a signalman and maintenance electrician for Conrail Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Masonic Cedar Lodge in Orrville and attended East Chippewa Church of the Brethren. Bill was an avid golfer and had the rare ability to swing clubs equally well left- or right-handed. In his younger years, he pitched fast-pitch softball and was also an accomplished bowler, achieving several perfect 300 games.
In addition to his wife, Jan, he is survived by four sons, Michael (Barb) Ramsdell of Holmesville, Ron (Kim) Ramsdell of Toledo, Rick (Kathy) Ramsdell of Wooster, and Dave (Shelley) Ramsdell of Orrville; a daughter, Judi (Rusty) Hebb of Shreve; a daughter-in-law, Donna Ramsdell of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ami, Jenny, Kerri, Mikki, Sara, Jamie, Candace, Roxanne, Lexi, Colt, Tori, Taylor, Tori, Zach, Austin, and Shelby; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Ramsdell; and nine siblings.
Friends may call on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 7207 Chippewa Road, Orrville, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the church, with Pastor Brad Kelley officiating. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, where military honors will be conducted.
