Lehman, Jay (Junior Ezra)

Jay  Lehman of Kidron passed away peacefully on July 26, 2020. Born on April 21, 1929, he recently celebrated his 91th birthday with family and friends. A private family service will be held later this week, with a celebration of life in the future.

Founder of the iconic old-time general store Lehman’s in 1955, Jay worked tirelessly his whole life, dedicated to family, faith, and community – the framework of life well-lived. He was a world traveler, excellent tennis and Rook player and a long-time member of Kidron Mennonite Church.
Jay is survived by his beloved and steadfast wife of 18 years, Emma Lehman, and her children Brenda (Bob) Walters, Millard (Karen) Shrock and grandchildren Jesson and Eagon Walters and Grant, Reid (Bria) and Drew Shrock. He is survived by siblings Gloria (Glenn) Kauffman, Mabel (Ted) Warfel, Dave (Lois) Lehman; children Galen (Sherri) Lehman, grandchildren Matthew (Ruth) LehmanWiens, Lindsay (Grant) Peters, and one great-grandchild, Elliana Peters; Glenda (Scott) Ervin, grandchildren Brandon Ervin and Allison Ervin; Kevin (Jenn) Lehman, grandchild Asher Lehman; and Wendy (Duane) Lehman, as well as many other local relatives.
Jay was preceded in death by his first wife of over 40 years, Ella Mae Lehman, and siblings Wayne Lehman and Pearl Taylor and brother-in-law Ted Warfel.

    Condolences to the family. I remember Jay fondly from my time working at Lehman Hardware. A life well- lived, indeed.
