Dalton’s golf team finished in fifth place Thursday in the Division 3 district tournament at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance.

The team score was 366. Top four scores were: Preston Wenger, 89; Brendan Lehman, 91; Jaden Schlabach, 93; and Trevor Horst, 93.

The team needed to place at least third to advance to the state tournament.

“Overall, this season went well,” Jeff Feller, varsity golf coach, wrote in an email. “The players worked hard in the offseason and it showed.”

Feller said finishing second in the Wayne County Athletic League and making it to the district tournament were great achievements for the team this year.

“The team is still young and will only lose David Cross to graduation this year,” Feller wrote. “We will be looking to the underclassmen to fill his spot.

“Everyone is looking forward to working hard in the offseason and to see continued improvement and success next season.”
