Sara Browske,
5th grade ELA teacher

Reason for selection: Mrs. Browske does a phenomenal job caring for her students and getting the most out of them. She is kind hearted and students enjoy being in her classroom each day. She also helps with coaching at DMS and a leader of our kindness club at the middle school. We appreciate all she does and are fortunate to have her at DMS.

1. What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?
Dalton is a great district to work for. All the staff is passionate about serving students, which makes being part of this group a wonderful place to be. My 5th and 6th grade team work together to provide the best education we can, so that students can meet their potential and see how capable they really are. The community is so supportive and is always willing to help out when needed.

2. How did you get to where you are today?
I graduated from Orrville High School and then went to Ashland University, playing volleyball for the Eagles. I received my bachelors degree in elementary education. After graduation I went back to Ashland as a graduate assistant, coaching volleyball and softball, and received my masters in Sports Science. I began my teaching career at Dalton in an elementary split grade class for several years and then switched to an intervention classroom. I taught in this role for 20 years. When an opening came up for 5th grade language arts three years ago, I decided to accept this opportunity. I have also coached volleyball and softball at various levels for Bulldogs throughout the years.

3. Tell us one interesting little fact about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
I love being outdoors and engaging in nature. I enjoy a good bonfire. Over the years. I have rescued injured raptors in our community in coordination with the Medina Raptor Center transporting them there for treatment. I have had hawks, owls, and even a turkey buzzard in my hands. The best thing is when I get to release a bird back into the wild.
