Dalton offers new alert system

DALTON  The village is joining other municipalities in having an alert system set up for residents and those who work in Dalton or have family members in the village to receive notifications about emergencies and other events.

The village is just beginning to roll out the system and will automatically add residents who have a phone number or email attached to a utility bill they pay to the village. The alert system is a feature through the new utility billing system that was installed just over a year ago. Anyone is welcome to opt out of the system. Not every account has a phone number or email address attached so residents who would like to be a part of the alert system are asked to call 330-828-2221 or stop in at Village Hall. The system is able to use a cellphone number to leave a text, or a landline to leave a voice mail, or the notification can be over email address.

Alerts may range from hydrant flushing, to roads closed for a traffic crash, to notifications about snow parking bans or increased traffic in a part of the village
