1. What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?
There is so much to love about Dalton Local Schools. First, I love the community we share as staff and students. I enjoy getting to know my students and their families each year. Being a first-grade teacher, I am lucky to have the pleasure of watching my students grow throughout their 12 years at Dalton Local Schools. I also have an amazing staff to work with each day. I love the pride we all have in the schools. It does not matter if it is a music performance, sporting event, academic success, theater production, or other, we take pride in our activities. It is quite amazing to see how the community supports the schools as well. I am thankful to live in a community that lifts up the students and helps celebrate their accomplishments.
2. How did you get to where you are today?
I come from a very long line of teachers including my grandmother, my mother, several aunts, and sisters. Honestly, I have always known that I wanted to be an elementary teacher. I graduated from Mount Union College with my Bachelor of Arts Degree and then received my Master Degree from Marygrove College. I have worked in the Dalton Local Schools since 1999! I have taught first grade for most of my teaching career.
3. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
I grew up in Fairfield, a suburb of Cincinnati. My graduating High School class was close to 700 students! When my husband and I decided to settle in Dalton, I cried. I was not sure that I could live in a small town (there was not a Kroger and the closest mall was half an hour away!). However, now I cannot imagine living anywhere else. I am so thankful for the small-town community and to work and raise my family here in Dalton.
