DEMS students prepare for annual plant sale

DALTON Students at the Dalton Elementary & Middle School Greenhouse behind the middle school have been working hard planting and learning and having fun getting their hands dirty.
The annual plant sale is this week and the students have much to show off and share with the community. All proceeds from the sale go back into the DEMS Greenhouse and the STEAM programs.
This year, students have planted multiple types of tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, melon, bell peppers, geraniums, petunias, sweet potato vine, and a number of succulents, said teacher Justin Abshear.
“They have worked hard and planted a lot,” he said. “We look forward to seeing the community at the sale!”
Customers can also look for jalapenos, pumpkins, zinnias, marigolds, burros’ tails, aloe, hanging basket spider plants and more.
The DEMS Plant Sale is 4-6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday,May 13 and 14 at the greenhouse,which is behind the middleschool, 250 N Church St., Dalton.
All plants range from $2 to $8 depending on the size.
