Orrville — Donald James “Jim” Musser, age 82, of Orrville, died Monday, November 14, 2022, at Wooster Community Hospital in Wooster, following a short illness.
Jim was born on September 11, 1940, in Wooster, to the late Donald and Margaret (Murphy) Musser, graduated from Orrville High School in 1958, and served in the United States Marine Corps. He married Priscilla Ann Dayton on June 2, 1963 in Orrville.
He worked as a Engineer and Supervisor in the Nuclear Engineering Department for Babcock Wilcox in Barberton for 34 years, retiring in 1992.
Jim was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Orrville and a former Boy Scout and Cub Scout Leader. He enjoyed tennis and especially loved outdoor activities including fishing, hunting and camping. Most of all he loved following the activities and lives of his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Priscilla Musser; four children, Dawn (Kevin Gowins) Sprowls-Gowins of Orrville, Scott Musser of Orrville, Jill Cross of Dalton, and Jeff (Gigi) Musser of Sandusky; eight grandchildren, Kurtis Sprowls of Pittsburgh, PA, Korbin R. (Natalie Simmavanh) Sprowls of Columbus, Donny Musser of Akron, David, Sarah and Alexander Cross, all of Dalton, and Jaxson and Gianna Musser, both of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Kyle James Sprowls, and a sister, Gwen Domer.
Friends may call on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm.
Services will follow at 12:30 pm on Friday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Brian Burke officiating. Burial will take place at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, where military rites will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
