Rising Stars present ‘Laffin’ School’ play
ORRVILLE Orrville Community Theater’s Rising Stars return to the stage for the hilarious “Laffin’ School”.
“This is a charming and witty play about a group of very clever school kids who are doing all they can to scare off any teacher who enters into their Little Red Schoolhouse,” Director Tara Martens said in a news release.
Rising Stars (children ages 6-18) will present this play at 7 p.m. April 21 and 22 and 2:30 p.m. April 23. Tickets available on the website and EventBrite. Orrville Community Theater is a small, non-profit, community theater. This play, filled with jokes and lots of laughs, will be at Christ United Church of Christ, 301 N Main St., Orrville.
KVFD spring chicken BBQ April 29 at CCS
KIDRON Kidron Volunteer Fire Department has its spring chicken BBQ Saturday, April 29. Firefighters and volunteers will be cooking 3,000 halves and will begin serving chicken only drive thru at 3:30 p.m. at Central Christian School, 3970 Kidron Road and will serve until all 3,000 halves are sold. The chicken is by donation only.
Chicken BBQ drive thru at West Lebanon
West Lebanon United Methodist Church has a drive thru chicken barbecue 4 p.m. until they run out May 6. The menu includes BBQ chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans, bun and butter and a brownie. By donation only.
Wayne Center for the Arts ‘Artrageous!’
WOOSTER For the first time since 2019, Wayne Center for the Arts hosts its annual fundraiser and open house event Artrageous! at 7 p.m. April 29, according to a news release. The event is dubbed as “an evening of inspiring experiences” because the entire night will revolve around the experiences that inspire art and creativity. Attendees will be able to tour the Arts Center building including the newly renovated auditorium and galleries which will be filled with works of art from local high school students. Wayne Center for the Arts faculty will be demonstrating their crafts and facilitating hands-on activities as well. Live music and entertainment as well as drinks and refreshments will round out the activities for the first half of the night. Tickets to the event are $75 per person, and all proceeds benefit art education in the community.
Shady Lawn BW3 fundraiser April 24
WOOSTER Shady Lawn Healthcare Assisted Living has a fundraiser 4-9 p.m. Monday, April 24 at Buffalo Wild Wings, 4122 Burbank Road, Wooster. Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 15 percent of the total bill (not including tax, gratuity, alcohol or promotional discounts) to Shady Lawn. Customers must take the ticket with them on April 24 to BW3s in Wooster, according to information provided, for Shady Lawn to get the “credit.” Anyone is welcome to email or call Hally Schoby, director of admissions and marketing, for extra tickets or more information, at admissions@ehshadylawn.net or 330-828-2278 ext. 103. Book signing April 29 in Amish Country
BERLIN Author Brandy Gleason has a book signing 10 a.m.-1 p.m. April 29 for “100 Things to Do in Ohio’s Amish Country Before You Die,” published by Reedy Press, at Sol’s in Berlin, 4914 W Main St., Berlin. The event is free and open to the public.
