William G. Wentsch, 83

Marshallville — William G. Wentsch, 83, of Marshallville, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home on Fulton Road, following a period of declining health.
William was born June 18, 1942, in Wadsworth, Ohio, to the late George and Jeanette (Jones) Wentsch. On July 5, 1964, he married Ricky Foxx, who survives.
He graduated from Smithville High School and worked in shipping for Rubbermaid for more than 25 years before retiring in 2003. William also proudly served in the Ohio Army National Guard, retiring as a Sergeant First Class in 1987.
William was a man of many interests and commitments. He previously served as commander of American Legion Post 718 in Marshallville and was a 45-year member of the North Lawrence Fish and Game Club. He also held memberships with the Wooster Stamp Club, Stark County Gun Collectors Club, the NRA, APS, and ATA.
An avid collector, William especially enjoyed collecting stamps and coins and spending time shooting his gun collection. He also found pleasure in completing puzzles and caring for his yard. William took exceptional pride in maintaining his vehicles, Ricky never had to wash her own car, and he was even known to pick mud from between the treads of his tractor tires.
In addition to his wife, Ricky, William is survived by his daughter, Barbie (George) Wentsch of Marshallville; son, William E. Wentsch of Marshallville; granddaughter, Amber N. Wentsch of Marshallville; sister, Shirley Harrison; brother-in-law, Gerald Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George V. Wentsch; his mother, Jeanette May Wentsch; and his niece, Krista Harrison.
There will be no public services. William’s family will hold a private burial of ashes at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
