Marcia Ann Rodgers, 85

ORRVILLE — Marcia Ann Rodgers, age 85, of Orrville, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, following a short period of declining health.
Marcia was born on July 25, 1940, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Owen and Ruth (Critchfield) Waefler and graduated from Orrville High School in 1958. She went on to attend The University of Akron and later graduated from the Massillon Community Hospital School of Nursing, earning her Registered Nurse degree. On April 4, 1964, she married James Thomas Rodgers in Orrville, beginning a loving marriage that spanned nearly 55 years until Jim’s passing on March 23, 2019.
Marcia devoted her life to caring for others through her nursing career, serving patients and families with compassion, skill, and kindness for more than 50 years. She worked in the Surgery Department at Akron Children’s Hospital, in Obstetrics at Massillon Community Hospital, and later as Obstetrics Manager at Dunlap Memorial Hospital. She concluded her distinguished career there as a Case Manager before retiring in 2012.
A member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Orrville, Marcia cherished the friendships and fellowship she shared throughout the community. She especially enjoyed the monthly breakfasts with her Orrville High School Class of 1958 classmates and Tuesday morning coffee gatherings at Michael’s Bakery with the “coffee ladies.” Marcia also generously volunteered her time with CAMO in Orrville and the Red Cross Bloodmobile.
Above all, Marcia deeply loved her family and treasured every opportunity to support them. She was a proud and devoted mother and grandmother who rarely missed her sons’ and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She was also actively involved with the Orrville Mothers Athletic Booster Club, enthusiastically cheering on generations of athletes and students.
Surviving are her two sons, John (Polly) Rodgers of Sidney, Ohio, and Matt (Jodee) Rodgers of Bay Village, Ohio; and four beloved grandchildren, Molly, Charlie, Mason, and Juli Rodgers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Aultman Orrville Hospital Auxiliary, 830 S. Main Street, Orrville, OH 44667.
