Anna Evelyn Gehman, 98

Anna Evelyn Gehman, of Kidron, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2026 at the age of 98. Anna was born at home on the family farm in Wayne County, Ohio on December 24, 1927 to the late Joseph and Sarah (Graber) Richard. She graduated from Smithville High School in 1945 and married John Gehman on April 2, 1954.

Anna gave her heart to the Lord at a young age and strived to follow Jesus throughout her life. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church, Bethel Mennonite Church and most recently, Kidron Mennonite Church. Music was an important part of her life. She earned money to take piano lessons as a child and formed a singing trio with two of her sisters as a young adult. They sang at churches, revivals, and on a radio program. A professional recording was made of their music.

John and Anna operated Gehman’s Poultry Farm in Wadsworth from 1954 until retirement. Her smile and laughter touched many lives while selling eggs and produce at the farm. She was a talented baker and cook, always trying new recipes. Many plates of Christmas cookies were delivered to neighbors and families during the holidays. She loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren, often taking them for happy meals when the chores were done. Anna enjoyed crocheting afghans, doll purses, kitchen towels, and other items. She also loved flowers and tenderly planted and cared for them.

Anna is survived by her four children, Karen Geiser of Orrville, Beth (Jim) MacKenzie of Elkhart IN, Michael (Hannah) Gehman of Dalton, and Janet (Roger) Horst of Orrville, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two siblings: Martha Steiner and Junior (Naomi) Richard.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband John, son-in-law Roland Geiser, grandson Andrew Geiser, her parents, five siblings: Elmer Richard, Paul Richard, Helen Steiner, Ruth Steiner, and Mary Hilty.
