Mackey, Paul H. “Sonny”
Paul H. “Sonny” Mackey, age 71, of Orrville, died Friday, July 17, 2020, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, following a battle with esophageal cancer.
Paul was born on June 25, 1949, in Millersburg, to the late Paul and Gladys (Manson) Mackey, graduated from Orrville High School in 1967, and served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married Judy C. Porter on June 23, 1990, in Orrville. Judy died on August 24, 2017.
He worked for Westinghouse and Flo-Tork in Orrville as well as other odd jobs throughout his career.
Paul was a member of the Orrville American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed fishing and sports, especially baseball and backyard football. He was also a die hard Cleveland Indians and Washington Redskins fan.
Surviving are his son, Eric (Jessica) Mackey of Lewis Center; two granddaughters, Genevieve Fisher of Orrville and Peyson Mackey of Lewis Center; three great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Lou (James) Wade of Apple Creek and Cyndy (Bob) Maglio of Orrville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Scott J. Fisher; sisters, Carol Putnam, Marilyn Badertscher and Linda Davisson; and a niece, Connie Green.
Private services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military rites will be observed.
