DALTON FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY Pandemic postpones sales of shred bags

DALTON  Though the Dalton library has reopened on a limited basis, Dalton Friends of the Library remain unable to sell shred bags. Library staff are not yet permitted to handle money due to coronavirus risks.

FOL president Melody Snure is awaiting word on when bag sales can resume, a decision made by Wayne County Public Library officials. Based on phone calls that Snure has received, many Dalton-area residents have used their extra time in recent months to clean out old personal files. Now they need to buy shred bags to bring their discarded files to a library visit of the Reed Records Management shred truck. Traditionally the truck has made two Dalton stops in mid October. No dates can be scheduled until shred bag sales resume.

In place of the traditional children’s summer garden at the southwest corner of the library, Kidron FOL member Karen Geiser and her family used the raised beds this spring to plant a dozen colorful dahlias. FOL members are tending to the dahlias now that they’ve started blooming. The next time you go to the library, take time to enjoy the colorful dahlia beds which have persevered despite the efforts of 2019 cherry tomatoes to take over part of the space.
