Dalton — Myrtle L. Martin, age 92, of Dalton, formerly of Marshallville, died Friday, November 20, 2020, at Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton, following a period of declining health.
Myrtle was born on July 31, 1928, in Marshallville, Ohio, to the late Amos and Alta (Young) Brillhart and married Arthur on July 20, 1951, in Marshallville. Arthur died on April 6, 2018.
She attended Marshallville Elementary then onto Dalton High School and graduated in 1946. After high school she went on to complete cosmetology school at Akron Beauty School and worked as a beautician for Glendora Nursing Home for 20+ years. She also as worked as a bookkeeper for Cottage Creamery in Orrville.
Myrtle was a very active member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. She was a 4-H advisor, very involved in her children and grandchildren’s activities, served as the secretary of St. Michael’s Cemetery, traveled to Art’s Navy reunions, was tirelessly dedicated to the ministry of Camp Luther in Conneaut, OH, and loved hosting the entire family for holiday gatherings.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Lou (Dale) Plank of Park Ridge, IL, and Sue Ann (Rev. William) Diehm of Lyndhurst; son, Alan (Martha) Martin of Marshallville; eight grandchildren, Suzanne (Jeff) Bensch, Matthew (Ashley) Plank, Gretchen (Chris) Blanchard, Stefan (Nikki) Diehm, Marta (Dan) Safko, Emily (Adam Jarret) Martin, Leah Martin, and Adam Martin; seven great grandchildren, Tyler and Lily Bensch, Olive and Moira Diehm, Blair and Carmen Blanchard, and Sullivan Plank; three brothers, Olin Brillhart of Orrville, Donald (Sharon) Brillhart of Marshallville, and Frank Brillhart of Orrville.
She was preceded in death by brothers, James, Melvin, Dennis, and Herbert Brillhart.
