DALTON – David A. Fischnich, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2021.
Born on July 1, 1947 in Massillon, OH to the late Harold and Wilma (Wentsch) Fischnich, he was a life resident of Dalton. A 1965 graduate of Dalton High School and veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Army, he retired from the U.S. Postal service in Canton after 30 plus years of service. David attended the Dalton United Methodist Church, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3446 in Orrville, OH. An avid hunter and fisherman, Dave loved being outdoors, spending time with his family, and cheering on his Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Diane; daughter, Stacy (Eric) Zifcak of Elyria, OH; son, Scott Fischnich of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Chloe and Brock; brothers, Richard “Dick” Fischnich (Julia) of Navarre, Donald (Lavone) Fischnich of FL; nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private service with military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with a celebration of life service to be held at a later date.
