Denise Rehm, age 61, of Orrville, died Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton following a second battle with cancer.
Denise was born on June 12, 1959, in Orrville to the late Russell and Della May (Murphy) Rehm. She graduated from Orrville High School in 1977, earned her BS in education from Kent State University in 1982, and completed her master’s degree in Library Science at Kent State in 1998.
She was a school librarian for South Central Local Schools (1983-1991) and Marion City Schools (1991-1993) before coming to Orrville High School in 1993 where she taught until her death. While at Orrville, Denise served as director of the drama club and yearbook advisor.
She was a lifelong member of Christ United Church of Christ in Orrville where she served as deaconess and on the Consistory Board. She also served on the Orrville Historical Society, Orrville Railroad Heritage Committee, and the OrrViews Advisory Committee.
Her love was her niece and nephew and their children and attending all of their events. She also was an avid reader, supporter of the arts, fantastic cook and baker, and created many impressive cross stitch, crocheting and sewing projects.
She is survived by nephew Jason (Lori) Ayers, niece Jennifer (Bob) Howell, great nephews Brady Ayers and Tate Howell, and great nieces Annie and Hailey Ayers, all of Orrville. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patti Ayers.
Friends may gather to celebrate Denise’s life on Monday, June 14th, 6:00-9:00 at Schmid Hall, 501 Hall St., Orrville.
Services will be at Christ United Church of Christ, 301 N. Main St., Orrville, Tuesday, June 15th at 2:00 with Rev. Michael Bone officiating and will be live streamed at the Christ UCC YouTube.com Page. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
