Wooster — Kenneth G. Johnson, age 87, of Wooster, formerly of Orrville, died Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Ken was born on November 18, 1933, in Canton, to the late Ruel and Helen (Wirth) Johnson, attended Wooster High School, and served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He married Bonnie E. Heaton on September 2, 1978, in Wooster. Bonnie died on November 6, 2007.
He worked as a caregiver for Apple Creek Developmental Center for many years, retiring in 1998.
Ken was a member of Mountain Vision (Appalachian Relief). He was an avid OSU Buckeyes fan, enjoyed Bible study, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are seven children, Kenneth “Dean” Johnson, Tara Hervey, Dawn (Jason) Hostettler, John (Mary) Efaw, Janet Stanley, Robert (Jennifer) Kerns, and Brenda Kerns; grandchildren, Ethan and Brody Hostettler, Christopher Johnson, Dale Clarke, Tiara and Joseph Hervey, Bill and Erin Stanely, and Emily, Katelin and Joseph Kerns; and siblings, Gerry (Carol), Marilyn and Jo.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jasmine Johnson; and several siblings.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm.
Services will follow at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Murray officiating. Burial will take place at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, where military rites will be observed.
