Baker, Lyle E.
Orrville — Lyle E. Baker, age 73, of Orrville, died Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Accord Care Community in Orrville, following a period of declining health.
Lyle was born on October 12, 1948, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Lyle and MaryLou (Fugate) Baker, graduated from Sidney High School in 1967, and served as a Sergeant in the United States Army, stateside, during the Vietnam War. He married Sally “Colleen” Carleton on July 29, 1975 at Augsburg Lutheran Church in Orrville, Ohio
He worked as a sales manager for The Quality Castings Company in Orrville for 22 years, retiring in 2019.
Lyle was a member of Augsburg Lutheran Church where he was formerly active in Lutheran Men in Mission and the Praise Ringer Handbell Choir. He served on Orrville City Council for 12 years and was formerly a Board member of the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club, Orrville Public Library, Orrville United Way, and the Orrville Salvation Army. He was a previous Vice President of Podium Power Toastmasters, a Past President of the Jaycee’s in both Norwalk and Orrville, a member of the Orrville American Legion, and a former Orrville Youth Baseball Commissioner.
Surviving are his wife, Colleen Baker of Orrville; three sons, Daniel (Joy) Baker of Mansfield, Chris (Alyssa) Baker of Toledo, and Nathan (Beth Montry) Baker of Orrville; ten grandchildren, Courtney, Kyla, Andrew, Brooklynn, Weston, Cameron, Jordan, Deslie and Joshua Baker, and Brenden Betts; two brothers, Danny (Tracy) Baker of Coxs Creek, KY and Russ (Terri) Baker of Sidney; two sisters, Heather Baker of Sidney and Joy “Ellen” (Brent) Wride of Farmington, UT; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Auble Funeral Home, with Pastor Chuck Davis officiating and will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/ aublefuneralhome. Burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military rites will be observed.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Lyle. We lived in the same neighborhood and went to the same schools. Many fond and happy memories. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
