Bixler, Vilas Leroy
Vilas Leroy Bixler, age 78, of Kidron, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, at his home after a 25-year battle with Parkinson’s.
He was born December 6, 1943, in Sugarcreek, OH, to Alvin J. and Fanny (Yoder) Bixler. Vilas graduated from Hiland High School in 1961 and was part of the first graduation class from Rosedale Bible College. He married Mary (Otto) Bixler in 1964, and they made their home in Kidron, OH.
Vilas was a welder and machinist and retired from Horst Mfg in 2008. He will be remembered for his love of travel, adventure, nature photography, and camping. He was an avid water skier and enjoyed his John Deere B tractor.
He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed holding the little ones. Vilas was known for his love of hymns and leading music. He participated in singing groups and mens quartets. His hard work to provide for his family is appreciated. He was a man of integrity. Most importantly was his faith and his love for God.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter; Juanita Jo Yoder of Springs, PA; son, Steve (Becky) Bixler of Apple Creek, OH. and son Phillip (Kaila) Bixler of Sycamore, PA; grandchildren, Ryan Yoder (engaged to Jade Sisler), Todd (Jessica) Yoder, Joelle Yoder, Isaac (Emily) Bixler, Titus Bixler; Grace, Mason and Ella Bixler; great grandchildren, Jacob Yoder and Brooklyn Bixler; sisters, Dorlee (Ken) Nussbaum of Greensburg, PA, Voleta (Elmer) Schrock of Arthur, IL, Violet (Ray) Horst, Harrisonburg, VA and Mildred (Terry) Appleby of Sullivan, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Mary Yoder Bixler; and son-in-law, Jesse Yoder.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 11:00 am at Fairlawn Mennonite Church, 8520 Emerson Road, Apple Creek with Pastor Carl Wiebe officiating. Family graveside services will be held prior in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, May, 30, 2022 from 2-5:00 pm at the church. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
