Hewitt, Colleen J.

Colleen J. Hewitt, 85, of Kidron, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton.

She was born in Kidron on July 27, 1937 to the late Ivan and Estella (Gerber) Nussbaum and married Rodney M. Hewitt on May 20, 1956.  He died March 29, 2022.
She retired from the Kidron Auction and was a long time correspondent for the Kidron News/Dalton Gazette.  She was a member of Salem Mennonite Church near Kidron.  She was an avid quilter and was active in Salem’s Women in Mission sewing group.
She is survived by children Jeff Hewitt of Glenmont, OH, Nanette (Jedd) Sprunger of Kidron, Anita Hewitt of Mansfield and Matt (Elvira) Hewitt of Mesquite, NV; grandsons, Grant Sprunger of Portland, OR and Ryan (Colleen) Sprunger of Dalton; great grandsons,  Haydn and Easton Sprunger; and a brother, Myron (Kaylee) Nussbaum of Great Falls, Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Salem Mennonite Church, 3363 Zuercher Road, Kidron, with Pastor Kevin Himes officiating.  Family graveside services will be held prior in the church cemetery.  Friends may call on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 6-8:00 pm at the church.  Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691 or Mennonite Central Committee (memory of Colleen Hewitt/Sewing Kits) P.O. Box 500, Akron, PA 17501.

    Sorry Anita & family for your loss , 🙏🙏, I lost my mom in 2008 , i remember you from kidron , Dalton school yrs &yrs ago & your dad was my teacher in 6th
