Paul Mitchell DeHart, 83

ORRVILLE — Paul Mitchell DeHart, age 83, of Orrville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Accord Nursing Center with his family present.
Paul was born on May 10, 1939, in Bryson City, North Carolina to loving parents, James and Odessia (Jackson) DeHart. He graduated in 1958 from Charles Hall High School in Alcoa, TN.
Paul moved to Orrville, Ohio, and met and married Florence (Howard) DeHart on July 29, 1961. To their union, four children were born; June DeHart-Gaines, Darnel DeHart (deceased), Paula (Marvin) DeHart Williams, Aaron (Becky) DeHart; seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife of 61 years Florence (Howard) DeHart, sisters Odetha DeHart Whitted (Alcoa, TN), Peggy (Jack) Thomas Young (Alcoa, TN), sisters-in-law Mattie DeHart (Orrville, OH), Jackie Howard (Detroit, MI), Mary Waller (Hempstead, NY), Rose Mae (Claude Tyler) Davis (Wooster), Annie Lois Benning (Wooster) and Carol Lynn Howard (Canton); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Paul is preceded in death by both parents, sisters Betty (Sonny) Johnson, Dorothy (James) Walker, Shirley (Clarence) Gaines; brothers James (Bill) DeHart, Earl DeHart, and Wayne DeHart; son Darnel DeHart, and grandson Ryan Gaines.
Paul DeHart was a faithful member and Chairman of the Deacon Board, Program Chairman, and Sunday School Superintendent at First Baptist Church. He enjoyed being involved in the male chorus and, in earlier days, singing in quartets at various churches. He enjoyed playing sports and was an avid Orrville Red Rider Sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers and LA Lakers.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Christ United Church of Christ, 301 North Main Street, Orrville, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Services will follow at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, at Christ United Church of Christ, with Pastor Les L. Howard officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
