Donovan John Huntsberger, 92

Donovan John Huntsberger, 92, of Dalton, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, in Wooster.

Donovan was born February 5, 1931, in Dalton, Ohio to John and Ruth {Wenger} Huntsberger.

Donovan graduated from Dalton High School in 1949. He served in the Army as a radio operator from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War, and served in the Army Reserves until 1957.

He married Gladys M. Saurer on June 20, 1953. They resided in Kidron, Ohio until moving to Lakeland, Florida in 1974, they then moved back to the Dalton area in 1999.

Donovan worked for Quality Castings in Orrville for 4 years, Kidron Town and County for 6 years, he was the Kidron Postmaster for 4 years, he was a member of the Kidron Fire Department for 15 years where he became a EMT, and he was employed by the Kidron Body Company for 32 years where he worked in both their Ohio and Lakeland, Florida locations. Donovan was a member of the Dalton Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Church in the Highlands in Lakeland, Florida. Donovan was a craftsman in woodworking, could fix most anything and enjoyed working in his flower gardens.

Donovan will be deeply missed by his daughters Linda (Cary) Thach of Texas, Nancy (John Mark) Tyrrell of Dalton, and Karen (David) Hickman of Washington; son Gary (Bunni) Huntsberger of Dayton; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister Doris Zaugg.

Donovan was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Gladys, his parents, and his brother Maurice Huntsberger, an infant grandson and an infant great-grandson.

Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is assisting with arrangements. A private family graveside service and burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held.
