Carol K. Bishop, 86
ORRVILLE — Carol K. Bishop, age 86, of Orrville, died Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, following a short period of declining health.
Carol was born on April 2, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late John and Wilma (Galowicz) Skabar and graduated from Orrville High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Nathan “Bud” Bishop, on July 7, 1956, in Orrville by Monsenior Hoot. She later worked as a receptionist for Dr. Mike Guster, Optometrist, for several years.
Carol was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Orrville VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bridge, reading, cooking, baking and crocheting. She will also be remembered for her skills as a seamstress and her love for travel.
Surviving are her husband, Bud; six children, Deborah (Ronald) Smith of Orrville, Teresa (Roger) Riblet of Orrville, Cheryl (David) Steiner of Holmesville, James Bishop of Orrville, Paul Bishop of Orrville and Elizabeth (John) Koehler of Orrville; daughter-in-law, Maria Bishop of Orrville; grandchildren, Nichole Wirtzberger, Darren Hostetler, Kelsey Hoffman, Jared Riblet, Shawna Juhasz, Tara Jacobs, Samantha Evans, Devon Steiner, Hannah Koehler, Nathan Bishop, Danae Owens, Nicholas Bishop, Michelle Conley, Charlie Cihlar, Guy Polzel, Danielle Mateo, Melissa Glover, and Marco Salazar; 30 great grandchildren; two sisters, Gerry (Ron) Walko of Linden, MI and Margaret (Don) Aukerman of Orrville; and two brothers, John Skabar of Zanesville and Mike (Belinda) Skabar of Orrville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Theodore Bishop, son-in-law, Dennis R. Hostetler; daughter-in-law, Peggy Bishop, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Skabar.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, September 29, 2023, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 541 Spring Street, Orrville, with Fr. Ronald J. Turek officiating. Cremation will follow and burial of cremated remains will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
