Emma J. Lehman, 82

Emma J. Lehman, 82, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Friday evening January 12, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Wooster. Emma was born in Fredericksburg, OH January 29, 1941, to the late Jacob J. and Jemima (Wengerd) Wengerd.
Emma married Leon Owen Shrock on Aug. 26, 1960 . During their 39 years of marriage, Emma and Leon served as missionaries in Germany and together pastored multiple Mennonite churches in Holmes and Wayne Counties. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2000.
On Jan. 19, 2002, Emma married ‘Jay’ Junior Ezra Lehman, becoming a Kidron resident and member of the Kidron Mennonite Church. Over the next 18 years, Emma and Jay enjoyed traveling and serving their church and community until Jay’s death on July 26, 2020.
Emma’s compassionate heart for service and her witness of faith was always evident in all she did, through her volunteer work in her church, at MCC Connections and in her community.
God blessed Emma with numerous gifts she displayed through her beautiful quilts, her green thumb, and her ability to make us all feel welcome and at home.
Although she had a quiet demeanor, she could be quite competitive on the golf course, tennis court and at the numerous table games she loved playing with family and friends.
But most of all, Emma deeply loved her family and friends. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Emma is survived by her son Millard (Karen) Shrock, daughter Brenda Walters (Bob); Jay’s children, Galen (Sherri) Lehman, Glenda (Scott) Ervin, Kevin (Jenn) Lehman and Wendy (Duane) Lehman; grandchildren, Grant (Kelly) Shrock, Reid (Bria) Shrock, Drew Shrock, Jesson (Katherine) Walters, Eagan (Anna) Walters, Matthew (Ruth) Lehman-Wiens, Lindsay (Grant) Peters, Brandon Ervin, Allison Ervin, and Asher Lehman; great-grandchildren, Parker Shrock, Elliana Peters, Zachary Peters, and Ari Lehman; siblings, Ada (Crist) Mast, and Edna (Logan) Turner; and a sister-in-law, Marcella Wengerd.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Emma was preceded in death by her son Brian Shrock; and siblings, Katie Ann (Ivan) Troyer and Eli Wengerd.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church, 3987 Kidron Rd, Kidron, OH with pastor Carl Wiebe officiating. The burial will precede the service at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Mennonite Church Cemetery, 7843 Smucker Rd, Smithville, OH. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church. Arrangements are being handled by Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton.
