Sandra J. Merrill, 79

Sandra was born on August 7, 1944, in Ravenna, to the late Donald and Doris (Jefferies) Faulds. She attended Louisville High School, and graduated from Galion High School in 1962. She married Calvin W. Merrill on August 8, 1964, in Galion.
She received her beautician license at the Mansfield Beauty College, and worked for Ron’s Beauty Supply in Galion where she met the love of her life, and husband of 60 years. Later, Sandra dedicated 24 years as a bus driver for Green Local Schools. In her retirement, she spread joy and positivity through Mary Kay Cosmetics. Some may remember her as being the “pink Cadillac lady”.
Sandra was a member of East Union Lutheran Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Red Hat Society. She had a vibrant passion for life, dogs, flowers and gardening, the songs of birds, the thrill of waterskiing, and the adventure of travel. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Dutchy, Grammie, or Gigi. Sandra will be remembered as a true lady, with infectious laughter that filled the room.
In addition to her husband, Calvin, she is survived by her three children, Wendy Fry of Wooster, Tracy (Derek) McDaniel of Orrville, and Craig (Holly) Merrill of Wooster; ten grandchildren, Mandie (Steph) Fry, Nick (Colleen) Fry, Brooke (Matt) McDaniel, Cassey Fry, Caden McDaniel, David Brauning, Joie Brauning, Alexsandra Merrill, Cole Merrill, and Daxton Davis; five great grandchildren, Brody, Addi, Iris, Nash and Declan; brother, Donald (Rosie) Faulds; and two sisters, Pam (Dale) Hager and Claudia (Kenny) Deisch.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Janice Basciano, Scott Faulds, Kelly Faulds, and Steven Faulds; and her faithful Cavalier Spaniel, Lilee.
The family wishes to thank Shannon Mathew, Sandra’s caretaker, for the love and care she provided over the years.
A public celebration of Sandra’s life will take place on July 20th at The Chalet at Freedlander Park, 400 Hillside Drive, Wooster, OH 44691 from 1-4pm.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at East Union Lutheran Church, with Pastor Rob Moskowitz officiating. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, following a private cremation.
