Daniel “Danny” D. Butzer, age 78

Orrville – Daniel “Danny” D. Butzer, age 78, of Orrville, died Monday, February 2, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, following a sudden illness.
Daniel was born on April 20, 1947, in North Lawrence, Ohio, to the late Clyde and Marjorie (Brown) Butzer. He graduated from Smithville High School in 1965. On September 1, 2012, he married Sandy McDaniel in Orrville. Sandy survives.
Daniel worked in HVAC for many years including Daniel’s Heating and Cooling. He was a member of the Wayne County Archery Club and was an avid archer. He also enjoyed working on his 1925 Chevy street rod and had a deep love for writing. Daniel was a published author, having written “The Fox Lake Monster” and “The Evolution of Keeping Time from Shadows to Silicon”, and he also enjoyed writing poetry. Earlier in life, he served as head of security at Richfield Coliseum.
In addition to his wife, Sandy, Daniel is survived by his son, Aaron D. Butzer of Marshallville; his daughter, Lisa C. Patterson of Dalton; five grandchildren, Steven (Megan) Indorf, A.J. Butzer, Elsa (Austin) Fowler, Kyle Nester, and Madison Nester; three great-grandchildren, Bryson, Ivy, and Ryland; two sisters, Patricia A. Howell and Janice F. Purdy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol S. Heidt.
Cremation will take place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
