Lowell Dean Ackeret, 93

Lowell Dean Ackeret age 93, of Navarre, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 17, 2026.

He was born January 28th, 1933, in Tiverton Center, Ohio. While he enjoyed many pastimes including family, woodworking, gardening, and other outdoor activities, his most recent joy was taking several daily walks in his neighborhood. He was a brakeman/conductor with the Norfolk Southern railway from which he retired.

Lowell is preceded in death by his parents Hazel H. (Welch) and Walter C. Ackeret, brothers Walter A and Vernon C. Ackeret, wife Dorothy, and son-in-law James Crawford.

He will be greatly missed by daughters Wanda K. Shinn and Anita J. Crawford, and son Logan D. (Terri) Ackeret. Grandchildren Alana (Yared) Gurmu, James A. and Jacob A. Crawford. Great grandchildren Jeremiah Crawford and Ariella and Caleb Gurmu, along with nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday March 26, 2026, at Spidell Funeral Home, Mount Eaton Chapel at 11:00 a.m. visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be at Mount Eaton Westlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Paint Township Fire Department, P O Box 176, Mount Eaton OH 44659-0176, in Lowell’s honor.
