Katie A. Grossniklaus, 90

Katie A. Grossniklaus, 90, of Winesburg, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 2, 2026 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Katie was born on May 25, 1935 in Trail, Ohio to the late Menno and Lydia (Miller) Hershberger. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin, Eli, and David Hershberger; sisters, Clara Lang, Lizzie Wilhelm, and Mary Stutz; grandsons, Hans Grossniklaus, and Trent Kandel.

Katie retired in 2014 from Alpine Cheese where she worked for over 50 years. From the Chalet to the Cheese Factory. A woman of strong faith and commitment to the Lord, Katie was a member of the Wilmot United Methodist Church. She was an avid supporter for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by attending their school activities and sporting events.

A wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Katie will be sadly missed by her daughters, Bonnie (Jerry) Kandel of Millersburg, and Connie (Tom) DeVoll of Dundee; sons, Rick (Julie) Grossniklaus of Wooster, and Oz (Brenda) Grossniklaus of North Lawrence; sister, Amanda Fresch of Norwalk; seven grandchildren, Amber Sandrock, Crystal (Tom) Horn, Autumn (Rob) Arnold, Mitchell (Kaylee) DeVoll, Eric DeVoll, Stacy (Chris) Troyer, and Jennifer (Steve) Williams; nineteen great-grandchildren, Grace, Joy, Libby, Owen, Logan, Carson, Austynn, Maken, Blake, Ryder, Russell, Brittani, Branden, Matthew, Ellie, Aaden, Avery, Hannah, and Grady; two great-great-grandchildren, Elliott, and Henry; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 5-8:00 pm at Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Matthew Wald officiating. Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Wilmot.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aultman Compassionate Care Center, Canton, or to Wilmot United Methodist Church.
