Mary Lautzenheiser

Mary Lautzenheiser, of Wooster, was a caring person and uniquely creative, a skilled
writer and especially talented in visual arts. She was also a history buff with a particular
interest in the underground railroad in Athens County.
In 1984, at the suggestion of her mother, Mary enrolled in a dulcimer class taught by
Jerry Rockwell. Their friendship evolved into a lifelong partnership.
The couple resided in Guysville in Athens County until 2009, when they returned to
Wooster to care for Mary’s parents and brother.
She will be greatly missed by her many friends and classmates.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at East Union Lutheran Church, 7063 Lincoln
Way E, Wooster, OH 44691, at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 3, 2026, with calling hours
starting at 2:00 PM at church.
Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Barnes Preserve through the park’s
website. Arrangements entrusted to Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, OH.
