Kuhns, David L.
David L. Kuhns, 80, of Kidron, went home to be with the Lord peacefully, early Thursday, January 13, 2022 at his home following a period of declining health.
He was born near Maysville on November 28, 1941 to the late Levi L. and Elma (Bowker) Kuhns. He married Rachel L. Nussbaum, daughter of Harvey J. and Martha (Amstutz) Nussbaum of Kidron on May 11, 1963.
David was a graduate of Big Prairie Lakeville High School where he made many life long friends. He was an automobile mechanic and sold tires for Smetzer Tire Center and retired following 42 years of service. After retirement, he spent many years hauling his many Amish friends and school children.
Everyone who knew David, knew that he would rather be fishing. He was an avid fisherman and spent summer vacations fishing at Rice Lake in Canada for over 60 years. David also greatly enjoyed gospel and country music, visiting with family and friends, history, vintage cars and bird watching.
David was a member of Longenecker Evangelical Anabaptist Fellowship (formerly Longenecker Mennonite Church) for over 50 years. He was a faithful and dependable husband, father, church member, friend and worker.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Rachel, he is survived by children, Kenneth (Jennifer), Patricia (Clark) Willems, Karl (Lisa) and Leroy (Amy); 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Earl) Miller, Linda (Vernon) Miller and Ruth (Phil) Nussbaum; a brother, Lee (Peg) Kuhns; and brother-in-law, Al Yoder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Iva Yoder; 2 grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Longenecker Evangelical Anabaptist Fellowship, 220 Township Road 606, Dundee, with Pastor Jeff Bargerstock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5:00 pm at the church. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
